In Memoriam : Milton Wilson
|
| Milton Wilson died on Sunday, June 6th, 2004 in Portland, Oregon where he was born in 1923. He attended Reed College and the Museum Art School (which later became Pacific Northwest College of Art) and received his art degree from the San Francisco Art Institute.
Milton Wilson’s career as a painter spanned several decades – the 1950’s to the present. After a stunning solo exhibition at the Portland Art Museum in 1973, Mr. Wilson left Oregon to live in Europe, New York and San Francisco. He returned to Oregon to live and paint in “retirement”. Works by Mr. Wilson are in the collections of the Portland Art Museum, Oakland Museum of Art, Yale University, Reed College, University of Oregon of Art Museum and numerous private and corporate collections. Mr. Wilson made a great contribution to the genre of abstract expressionist painting. He will be missed.
